Check out Lt Repas of the GVFC! Great job Matt and keep up the good work.FIREFIGHTER FRIDAY

Today we would like you to meet Firefighter Matthew Repas. Matt is with the Mantua Township Fire District. He was hired in 2019 and serves a dual role as a Firefighter/Mechanic.

Matt began his fire service career in 2009 with the Oaklyn Fire Department in Camden County. Matt currently also serves as a volunteer firefighter in his hometown with the Gibbstown Fire Company.

On his off time, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter.

Matt's dual role as a diesel mechanic keeps the fleet running smooth and saves taxpayers money having a mechanic and fleet maintenance on staff.

FIREFIGHTER JOHN SIZEMORE ANSWERS HIS FINAL ALARM

It is with the deepest sympathy that the Gibbstown Volunteer Fire Company announces the loss of one of the most dedicated members in the history of our organization. John Sizemore, who joined the company in November of 1954, passed peacefully yesterday. His tenure in the company included holding the rank of Lieutenant and Captain throughout the 1960’s , and also becoming a trustee from 2002-2011.

As we extend our thoughts to the Sizemore family, we also thank them for sharing him with us throughout the years. It will never be known how many lives were saved due to his dedication over his 66 years wearing the patch of the Gibbstown Volunteer Fire Company, but we are sure several people are still alive today due to John.

BURGER KING DRILL

- As one week remains before the Burger King building is οΏΌ demolished, the GVFC began conducting one of three drills there last evening. With East Greenwich Township Fire & Rescue in attendance with us, crews performed several tasks such as forcible entry, extricating a child who was stuck in a fence and other interior scenarios with limited visibility.
