21-1 HANDLES SPREADING BRUSH FIRE

- Station 21-1 was dispatched for a large brush fire which was spreading rapidly toward the wetlands of the township. Crews from Gibbstown and Paulsboro quickly extinguished the fire to keep it contained to the property involved.

Special thanks to Gibbstown’s version of the “Cajun Army” (hunters) who deployed to help remove boats and other property in the path of fire prior to our arrival.

MEMBERS HEAD TO GCFA FOR RIC TRAINING

- Today, under the instruction of Captain Bates, members reviewed the RIC pack and the “Denver Drill” at the Gloucester County Fire Academy. Both evolutions included instructor led and hands on training to ensure competence in all who attended. This type of drill prepares our members for the worst case scenario, rescuing a downed firefighter.

Prior to the drill some members completed their two minute drill and annual SCBA competency course.
